Terms of Use

These terms explain how BedrockMatch works when you use our homeowner matching service. Please read them before you submit your information or ask to be introduced to local retrofit contractors.

Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to homeowners and other property decision-makers who use BedrockMatch to request information or contractor introductions through this website, by phone, text, email, or a form such as get matched, free. If you use the service for a property you do not own, you are responsible for making sure you have authority to request information or speak with contractors about that property.

By using the service, you agree to these terms and to our handling of your submitted information as described on this page. If you do not agree, please do not submit a request through BedrockMatch.

BedrockMatch is intended for people seeking information about seismic or storm-related home retrofit work in the United States. Availability can vary by area, property type, and contractor participation.

What the service does

BedrockMatch is a free homeowner matching service. We help connect homeowners with participating local contractors who offer services such as earthquake and storm retrofit work listed under services. We are a marketing and matching service only.

Important: BedrockMatch is not a contractor, structural engineer, licensed inspector, public adjuster, attorney, or insurance company. We do not perform construction, design repairs, inspect homes, approve scope, set code requirements, or decide what work your home needs.

Participating contractors pay BedrockMatch a flat fee to be introduced to interested homeowners. BedrockMatch does not take a commission, percentage, or any cut of the price of your project. Matching is free to the homeowner.

We try to make introductions to contractors we believe are a reasonable fit based on location, project type, and availability, but we cannot promise that a contractor will accept your project, respond within a certain time, or offer a specific price.

Your choices and responsibilities

You stay in control of your home, your information, and your hiring decision. Using BedrockMatch does not require you to hire anyone, sign a construction contract, or move forward with any recommended work.

You are responsible for reviewing any contractor carefully before you hire them. At a minimum, you should:

  • verify the contractor's current license, bond, and insurance yourself
  • ask questions about scope, schedule, permits, and payment terms
  • get price and work details in writing
  • compare more than one opinion if you are unsure
  • ask a licensed engineer or other qualified professional when technical, code, or legal questions matter

Any prices, timelines, grant references, or possible insurance effects discussed on this website are general information only. They are not promises, guarantees, or quotes for your property. Costs and outcomes depend on the home, region, site conditions, contractor findings, and final scope.

How contractor introductions work

When you submit a request, we collect basic information needed to understand your project and contact you. This may include your name, property address or ZIP code, phone number, email address, language preference, and basic details about the home and the type of work you are asking about.

We then may share that lead information with one or more participating contractors we believe may serve your area or project type. Those contractors may contact you by phone, text message, or email to discuss your request, schedule a visit, or tell you whether they are interested.

By submitting your request, you consent to BedrockMatch contacting you about your inquiry and, where you provide a phone number, to calls and texts related to your request, including by automated technology where allowed by law. This consent is requested for contact about your inquiry and is not a condition of buying anything, because homeowners do not pay to use the matching service.

You can opt out of future texts or marketing-style communications at any time by following the message instructions, replying STOP where applicable, or contacting us directly. Opting out may limit our ability to continue matching or updating you about your request.

Information you submit

We ask for home basics and contact details only so we can process your request. We do not ask for or require your bank account numbers, credit card numbers, Social Security number, or immigration status in order to match you with contractors.

Please provide information that is accurate and current. Do not submit false contact information, another person's information without permission, or details you do not have authority to share.

You should also avoid sending sensitive documents unless a contractor specifically asks for them and you are comfortable doing so. If a contractor later requests additional records, that exchange is between you and the contractor, and you should decide what to share.

If you believe information you submitted is incorrect, or you want us to stop sharing your lead with participating contractors, contact us promptly. We will use reasonable efforts to update our records going forward, but we cannot recall information already shared with a contractor before your request was processed.

No engineering, inspection, or legal advice

Content on this website is for general educational and matching purposes only. It is not engineering advice, a home inspection, a code determination, legal advice, tax advice, or a project specification for your home.

BedrockMatch does not tell homeowners that a specific retrofit is or is not needed for a particular property. Only a licensed engineer, qualified inspector, or contractor who evaluates the home on site can confirm what conditions exist and what work, if any, may be appropriate.

We also do not guarantee that any retrofit will make a home safe, reduce damage by a specific amount, lower insurance premiums, or help a home survive an earthquake, hurricane, or storm. Any references to grants, including programs such as California's Earthquake Brace + Bolt or FEMA hazard-mitigation grants, are general public-program references only. You should check whether you qualify and confirm current rules directly with the program administrator.

Third-party contractors and your decisions

Contractors introduced through BedrockMatch are independent third parties. They are not employees, agents, joint venturers, or representatives of BedrockMatch. Any estimate, inspection, recommendation, contract, warranty, permit handling, payment request, or construction work is solely between you and the contractor you choose.

BedrockMatch does not control and is not responsible for a contractor's availability, statements, workmanship, pricing, licensing status, permit compliance, scheduling, collections, warranty service, or dispute handling. That is why it is important to verify credentials yourself and confirm scope and price in writing before work begins.

Your use of BedrockMatch also does not create a duty for BedrockMatch to monitor a project, resolve contractor disputes, or decide whether a contractor's recommendation is correct. If you have a disagreement about work or a contract, you should address it directly with the contractor and consider getting legal or technical advice from a qualified professional.

Changes, contact, and updates

BedrockMatch may update these terms from time to time as the service changes or as legal requirements change. When we do, we may update the effective date or post the revised terms on this page. Your continued use of the service after updated terms are posted means you accept the revised terms.

If you have questions about these terms, want to opt out of communications, or want to ask about information you submitted, please contact BedrockMatch through the contact methods listed on this website. Please include enough detail for us to identify your request.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining sections will continue to apply to the extent allowed by law. These terms describe the basic rules for using the matching service and help set clear expectations for homeowners and participating contractors.

In plain English: BedrockMatch helps you find local retrofit contractors for free, but you choose who to talk to or hire, and only licensed professionals can advise you about your specific home.
